Paris Hilton Love Rush is celebrating its one year anniversary today, which just so happens to coincide with Paris‘ own second-year anniversary. Created and inspired “by the sentiments of true love,” the fragrance was worn by the bride on her wedding day, and later released to the world on her one-year anniversary last year. The new mom recently chatted with us to give us some behind-the-scenes beauty intel from the special day—including the heartfelt steps that went into the “special sauce” of the white-floral fragrance.
How did you create Love Rush to match this big day? What was the hardest thing about getting Love Rush to market?
“I had always dreamed of my wedding and wanted to create a unique fragrance that would forever remind me of the love and joy I felt that day. Love Rush brings back so many incredible memories and because of this, I consider it to be the most intimate fragrance in my collection.
Creating a scent for such a big occasion was definitely challenging, because I wanted it to be absolutely perfect. I met with Clement Gavarry, the Firmenich perfumer behind the scent, and we had an in-depth meeting to discuss the inspiration, notes, and feelings I wanted it to evoke. I always knew I wanted the scent to be a beautiful floral accord that included gardenia and vanilla orchid, and while working with Clement, we decided to add the Italian bergamot, white apricot nectar and sandalwood to round it out into a wonderfully romantic and uplifting fragrance—the perfect scent to wear while walking down the aisle.”
How did you decide to add the fragrance to your portfolio when it’s symbolic of such a special moment?
“Creating Love Rush was a labor of love, so even though it was my wedding scent, I knew from the very beginning that it was something I wanted to share with the world. I love creating fragrances for special occasions, and a wedding is one of life’s most special moments. Love Rush is a scent that immerses you in feelings of true love and happiness, so I hope that it allows other brides-to-be to feel all the feelings it brought me on my special day.”
Do you have a favorite fragrance, or fragrances, from your portfolio?
“I love all of the 29 fragrances in my portfolio for different reasons as each is representative of a different time in my life and offers a sense of nostalgia. I still wear all of them depending on the occasion, my mood, and what I have going on that day. Currently, Love Rush is one of my favorites and I continue to wear it for special occasions, like the MET Gala or for our anniversary. The scent reminds us both of our special day, so it’s the perfect addition for a romantic evening together.
Ruby Rush is another because it’s a celebration of sensuality and confidence, and it’s designed to make you feel like you can conquer anything. Between the captivating red hue and tantalizing notes, it’s a fragrance that demands attention. It’s my signature scent when I’m DJing or for the rare girl’s night out. The bold and energetic aroma of the fragrance sets the mood and represents the confidence I have when I am on stage. It’s the perfect fragrance to wear when you want to feel empowered and be unapologetically yourself.
I think that Paris Hilton for Women will always have a special place in my heart, as it was the first fragrance I ever created. It’s so nostalgic for me now and reminds me of the great times I had at that stage of my life, as well as the excitement I felt developing my first scent, which was something I had dreamed of since I was a little girl. To this day, I have people share that Paris Hilton for Women was their first fragrance and they continue to wear it. I love hearing that my fragrances are as special to others as they are to me.”
Do you have any favorite beauty moments from your wedding?
“I was so lucky to have hairstylist Eduardo Ponce and makeup artist Steven Tabimba by my side for my wedding, and they made me feel absolutely beautiful enough for Carter to cry while I walked down the aisle. Marilyn Monroe was the inspiration behind my wedding look. I have always admired her classic, yet sexy, old-Hollywood style, so I wanted to draw this in for my wedding. Eduardo did an amazing updo and added some extensions to add volume to my hair. For my makeup, Steven created a natural look that enhanced my features and complimented my glamorous dress.”
What are some of your all-time favorite beauty products?
